Moyuka Uchijima, the 22-year-old Japanese tennis player, has been deservedly crowned the ITF World Tennis Tour Player of the Month for May.
Uchijima’s stellar performance in the ITF Circuit culminated in her first Grand Slam match-win at the prestigious Roland Garros 2024 tournament.
Uchijima’s inspiring journey is nothing short of extraordinary. With a remarkable 19-match winning streak, she clinched three titles – including two at the pinnacle of the ITF World Tennis Tour. Despite facing a tough test against world No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka in the second round of the French Open, Uchijima’s spirited performance left an indelible mark on the Parisian clay courts, capturing the hearts of fans worldwide.
The Japanese sensation’s meteoric rise in the tennis world is a testament to her unwavering dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence. Starting the year outside the top 170 rankings, Uchijima’s incredible form saw her claim five ITF singles titles, including victories at W100 level, propelling her to a career-high WTA ranking of No. 80.

Uchijima’s impressive play also included three bagel sets (winning 6-0) and a career-high WTA ranking of No. 80. With a total of 13 ITF singles titles, including victories on both hard (9) and clay courts (5).
