Japanese Naomi Osaka demolished Italian Camila Giorgi in straight sets to set up 3rd round clash with Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine.
Osaka spent only 1hr 9min on court to brush aside Giorgi, the world number 74, winning 6-1, 6-2.
Osaka hit 14 winners to dominate her hard-hitting Italian opponent. Osaka later said “I never want to depend on what the other person’s going to do”
Her powerful service game also looked in good order, with Osaka winning 79 per cent of points on her first serve.
Osaka, the 2018 US Open champion, will now play Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine in the last 32 on Friday.
