The Asia Tennis Community mourns the loss of former President of Asian Tennis Federation (1969-1972) and the former President of Hong Kong Tennis association (1969-1972, 1976-1983) Dr. Hu FA-KUANG, GBM, GBS, CBE, JP who left for heavenly abode at the age of 98.
An accomplished tennis administrator who was also a man with great business acumen. His constant dedication for tennis was immeasurable and many important programs that launched under his leadership turned out important for the development of the game.
His passion for the sport also saw him assume the positions of President of Asian Tennis Federation, President of East Asia Tennis Association, the founding President of the Hong Kong Veterans’ Tennis Association in 1988, and the Honorary Vice President of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC). He was also the Founder of Ryoden Development limited and Honorary Chairmen of Ryoden Development Limited.
Dr hu was the proud recipient of the ITF Award for services to the game in 1998 and was awarded by International Olympic Committee in 2013 for 150 years, Pierre de Coubertin, Sports as a school of life.
Asian Tennis Family deeply miss the loss of an experienced tennis enthusiast and tennis administrator. Many of his friends, ATF members and staff who had the pleasure of knowing him and working with him remember him as a great visionary, hardworking and an exemplary leader.
