Naomi Osaka put on a solid serving performance to beat Dayana Yastremska 6-3, 6-1 at the Southern and Western Open on Tuesday. The victory sends Osaka into her second quarterfinal of the year after starting the season with a run to the final four in Brisbane.

Osaka , who reached  third-round at the Australian Open this year which was indecently her last tournament before the tour’s five-month COVID-19 shutdown.

The two-time Grand Slam champion Osaka fired eight aces to overrun Yastremska , 20-year-old Ukrainian.

Osaka will run into 12th seed Anett Kontaveit, who edged past Marie Bouzkova 6-3, 6-3 earlier in the day to advance to the quarter finals.

The tournament is being played at Flushing Meadows in New York instead of Cincinnati due to Covid 19 pandemic.
