COVID-19 (coronavirus) continues to wreak havoc on world and fuel fears of widespread contagion, major events such as conferences, summits, concerts, and many sporting events are being forced to cancel or postpone, worldwide.
The major sporting event like Indian Wells Masters (also known as the BNP Paribas Open) was canceled after local health officials declared a public health emergency in the Coachella Valley due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
The corona virus has infected more than 116,000 people and killed more than 4,000 around the world since it surfaced in China late last year.
The Asian Tennis Federation following significant consultation with independent travel advisors, ITF and the host nations, have agreed to postpone the upcoming junior tennis events till the later stage.
The decision has been taken to ensure the health and safety of all players and other associated peoples.
List of ATF tournaments cancelled /postponed:
- WJTC final qualifying event held in Australia from 22nd March – Postponed
- JDC/JFC qualifying event held in Malaysia from 30th March – Postponed
- ITF West Asia 12&U Team Competition held in Jordan from 30th March – Postponed
- Asian 14&U Category 2 tournament, held in Thailand from 7th March – Cancelled
- Asian 14&U Category 2 tournament, held in Thailand from 28th March – Cancelled
- Asian 14&U Category 1 tournament, held in Thailand from 4th April – Cancelled
- Asian 14&U Category 1 tournament, held in Qatar from 4th April – Cancelled
- Asian 14&U Category 1 tournament, held in Qatar from 11th April – Cancelled
The revised dates of the postponed events will be announced in due course.
