As we move towards the business end of the Wimbledon Championships, the number of daily matches is getting lesser. Owing to this fact, on the eighth day of The Championship on Tuesday, there were only three Asian players seen in action, vying for the top honours at 2021 edition of The Championships.
Pakistan’s doubles specialist, Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi pairing up with Ukrainian Nadiia Kichenok faltered in their second round tussle against sixth seeded pair of Ivan Dodig of Croatia and Latish Chan of Chinese Taipei in straight sets 67 46.
While India’s Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza, who were the only two other Asian players who took to the courts on day eight, had to endure a rain-affected stop-start-stop first set of their Mixed doubles tie against Dutch-Slovenian duo of Jean-Julien Rojer and Andreja Klepac.
The match got suspended due to rain after the first set and the scores read 63 in favour of Rojer-Klepac.
