Asia/Oceania’s Finest: Teams Qualify for ITF WJTC Girls’ Finals. Kuching, Malaysia.

Xinyu Wang from China followed the footsteps of fellow country man Zhang and made a mark by qualifying for main draw at Ladies Singles main draw of Wimbledon Championships.  Wang was always favorite to win the battle against a lower ranked opponent Tereza Smitkova from Czech Republic. The match ended with no surprises in straight sets 64, 63 in favour of the Chinese in 81 minutes.

Wang however gets a tough outing in the main draw and is pinned against the 4th seed Sofia Kenin in the opening fixture.

Another Chinese Yafan Wang was also favorite to win her final qualies match against Lesia Tsurenko of Ukraine, however the Ukrainian came strongly to win in a long match lasting 2 hours and 24 minutes. Wang won the first set however lost steam and lost the next 2 rather easily to eventually lose the match 75, 26, 26.

However Wang had lots to cheer as she got into the main draw as a Lucky Loser later, and is scheduled to round up with Katerina Siniakova of Czech Republic in the first round match
