Siyeon Sim and Ethan Domingo Crowned Champions at 2025 Asia Pacific Elite 14&U Trophy

The 2025 Asia Pacific Elite 14&U Trophy concluded on January 24, with Siyeon Sim of Korea and Ethan Domingo of Australia emerging as champions in the girls’ and boys’ singles categories, respectively. The event, held at Melbourne Park during the prestigious Australian Open, showcased the skills of 16 young tennis talents from across the Asia-Pacific region.

The Asia Pacific Elite 14&U trophy is a benchmark event of collaboration between the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) and Tennis Australia. It is designed to provide a Grand Slam-like experience and competitive play at such a high level, the event builds confidence and encourages growth among emerging tennis stars Asia – Oceania.

The tournament featured 16 players—10 from Asia, along with one boy and one girl each from Australia, New Zealand, and Oceania. Players competed in a round-robin format, ensuring each participant played five matches to gain valuable on-court experience.

In Boys’ Group A, Hong Kong’s Fu Wang Choi dominated, winning all three matches to top the group. Korea’s Dongjae Kim was placed second with two wins, while Rodion Triagel (Kazakhstan) and Uraia Biauniceva (Fiji) finished third and fourth, respectively. In Group B, Ethan Domingo from Australia led with three wins, followed by Thailand’s Dharma Pantaratorn with two. India’s Hruthik Katakam and New Zealand’s Charles Kindth rounded out the other group positions.

The semi-finals saw Fu Wang Choi defeat Dharma Pantaratorn 6-3, 6-1, while Ethan Domingo staged a comeback to edge out Dongjae Kim 4-6, 6-4, 10-4. In the final, Domingo maintained his momentum, beating Choi 6-3, 6-4 to claim the boys’ singles title. Dongjae Kim secured third place by defeating Dharma Pantaratorn 6-4, 6-7(7), 10-4.

In Girls’ Group A, Japan’s Miyu Nishiwaki topped the standings with three wins. New Zealand’s Una Misic finished second with two wins, while Australia’s Torri Russell and India’s Karthika Padmakumar placed third and fourth, respectively. In Group B, Korea’s Siyeon Sim dominated with three wins. China’s Jiayi Lu followed with two wins, while Thailand’s Paweenon Nualsri and Tuvalu’s Alalilo Tepa finished third and fourth in group stage.

In the semi-finals, Jiayi Lu defeated Miyu Nishiwaki 7-6(7), 6-1, while Siyeon Sim powered past Una Misic 6-2, 6-2. Sim continued her winning streak in the final, overcoming Jiayi Lu 6-3, 6-3 to claim the girls’ title. Miyu Nishiwaki defeated Una Misic 6-3, 6-1 to secure third place.
