Asia’s leading young players will have an opportunity to take an important step towards Roland-Garros when two regional qualifying tournaments for the 2026 Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault are held in China and Kazakhstan this August.
Organised in partnership with the French Tennis Federation and the Asian Tennis Federation, the tournaments will bring together boys and girls from across Asia for two weeks of 16-and-under competition on clay.
The first tournament, the 2026 Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault – Qualifications East, South East and South Asia, will take place from 10 to 15 August 2026 at the AGTA Sports Academy, Hainan in Qionghai City, Hainan Province, China.
The competition will feature 24 boys and 24 girls. The players will initially be divided into six groups of four, with every participant playing three round-robin matches. They will then move into the placement rounds, ensuring that every player receives several competitive matches during the week. The field will include players selected through the World Tennis Tour Junior Rankings and the ATF 16-and-under rankings for East Asia, South East Asia and South Asia.
One week later, attention will move to Kazakhstan for the 2026 Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault – Qualifications West and Central Asia.
The tournament will be played from 17 to 22 August 2026 at Gorky Tennis Park in Almaty, bringing together 16 boys and 16 girls from West and Central Asia.
Players will compete in four round-robin groups of four. The top two players from each group will advance to the competition for positions one to eight, while the remaining players will continue in the placement draw for positions nine to sixteen.
The Kazakhstan field will be selected through the ITF junior rankings, the ATF 16-and-under rankings for West and Central Asia, and wild cards provided by the ATF and the Kazakhstan Tennis Federation.
The next step: Tokyo
The leading players in Hainan and Almaty will earn more than a regional title. The top two boys and top two girls from each tournament will qualify for the 2026 Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault in Asia Finals, which will be held from 14th to 18th October 2026 at the Dai-ichi Life Sogoen Tennis Club in Tokyo, Japan.
The Tokyo Finals will feature 16 boys and 16 girls and will be played on red clay. The boys’ and girls’ champions in Tokyo will earn places in the main draw of the 2027 Roland-Garros Junior Championships in Paris, taking them from regional competition in Asia to one of the most important stages in world junior tennis.
Both qualifying tournaments will also award ATF Category 1 ranking points. Hospitality, including accommodation and meals, will be provided to all participating players, while development grants will be available based on their final positions and participation in the Tokyo Finals.
From Hainan and Almaty to Tokyo—and potentially Paris—the 2026 Roland-Garros Junior Series by Renault provides Asia’s young players with a clear pathway to compete, develop and test themselves on clay against the best players of their generation.
