Korea, China and Chinese Taipei secured the six available places at the WT Asia 12&U Team Competition Finals following the conclusion of the East Asia Regional Qualifying Event in Beijing.
Korea finished first in the boys’ competition, ahead of China and Chinese Taipei. In the girls’ event, China took the top position, with Korea finishing second and Chinese Taipei third.
The five-day qualifying event was held from July 13 to 17 at the Yuanli Sports Centre in Beijing. The host – China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Macau, Mongolia and Korea competed in separate boys’ and girls’ round-robin competitions. Each team played five ties, with the top three teams from both sections qualifying for the Finals.
The boys’ competition remained closely contested throughout the week, with Korea finishing at the top of the standings after winning all five ties. China secured second place with a 4-1 record, while Chinese Taipei completed the qualifying positions after finishing third with a 3-2 record. Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia completed the standings.
In the girls’ competition, China produced a perfect campaign to finish first after winning all five ties. Korea secured second place with a 4-1 record, while Chinese Taipei claimed the third qualifying position with a 3-2 record. Hong Kong, Mongolia and Macau rounded out the final standings.
All six teams will now represent East Asia at the WT Asia 12&U Team Competition Finals, which will be held in Singapore from September 15 to 20, 2026. They will join the qualified teams from the other regional events held across Asia.
The Beijing event gave the young players five days of valuable international team competition and another opportunity to compete against some of the leading players of their age group in the region.
