The GSPDP/WT/ATF 14&U Team to Europe completed an excellent second week of competition at the Tennis Europe U14 d’Annecy, with Asian players enjoying notable success across the boys’ and girls’ events.
The Category 2 tournament was played on the clay courts of Annecy Tennis in France from 18 to 25 July 2026. It was the team’s second tournament of the European tour, following the Open Stade Francais in Paris.
The strongest performance of the week came in the girls’ singles, where all four semifinal places were occupied by members of the Asian team. Seohyeon Kim of Korea, Aiym Kanagatova of Kazakhstan, and the Indian pair of Padmapriya Ramesh Kumar and Srishti Kiran completed an impressive all-Asian semifinal line-up.
In the first semifinal, Kanagatova produced a commanding performance to defeat Ramesh Kumar 6-1 6-1. Kim then secured the other place in the final with a 6-4 6-2 victory over Kiran. The results set up an all-Asian championship match between Kim and Kanagatova. Kim continued her excellent form and claimed the title with a 6-2 6-2 victory.
It was Kim’s second consecutive singles title during the European tour. The Korean had also won the girls’ singles crown at the Open Stade Français during the opening week, where she defeated top seed Olivia Serena Conticello 6-1 6-1 in the final. Her success in Annecy completed another outstanding week, while Kanagatova’s run to the final and the semifinal appearances of Ramesh Kumar and Kiran underlined the overall strength of the Asian girls’ contingent.
Kim also reached the girls’ doubles final alongside fellow Korean Tae Hee Kim. The Asian pair finished as runners-up after losing 3-6 4-6 to the Canadian combination of Brielle Amey and Joni Colburne. The boys also recorded strong results during the week. Indonesia’s Ethan Jake Frans advanced to the boys’ singles semifinals after an impressive run through the draw. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire during his semifinal against Japan’s Saku Agui, with the score at 2-6 2-3.
In boys’ doubles, the combination of Thailand’s Punnapat Nimnuankul and Syria’s Muhamad Eyad Saleem to reached the final. The Asian pair finished as runners-up to Colombia’s Mathias Llanos Astudillo and Argentina’s Manuel Paniagua Alexenicer.
Saleem had also finished as the boys’ singles runner-up at the Open Stade Francais in the first week. For Nimnuankul, it was another strong doubles performance after reaching the semifinals in Paris with Korea’s Mingeon Choi.
The results in Annecy brought a successful second week to a close for the GSPDP/WT/ATF 14&U Team to Europe. The team finished the tournament with one singles title, one singles runner-up finish, three additional singles semifinal appearances and two doubles runner-up finishes.
More importantly, the all-Asian girls’ singles semifinal line-up demonstrated the quality and depth of the young players progressing through Asia’s development pathway.
The European tour is organised with the support of the Grand Slam Player Development Programme, World Tennis and the Asian Tennis Federation. It provides promising Asian players with valuable opportunities to compete regularly against leading juniors from around the world, adapt to different playing conditions and gain experience at high-level international tournaments.
