The ITF Asia 12&U Team Competition Regional Qualifying Event of Central Asia came to a close in Fergana, Uzbekistan, after a week of junior team tennis among five countries from the region.
Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and host nation Uzbekistan took part in the event, giving young players an important opportunity to compete in a team format at the regional level.
As expected, top seed Kazakhstan and second seed Uzbekistan finished as the leading teams of the competition in both boys and girls categories. Both teams showed strong form through the week and confirmed their place at the top of the Central Asia leg.
The tournament was another important step in the wider ITF Asia 12&U Team Competition pathway. The West Asia leg in Bahrain was cancelled earlier due to the Geo-Political tension, while the South Asia leg was held in Nepal and the South East Asia leg took place in Thailand. With the Central Asia event now completed in Uzbekistan, the focus will next move to the East Asia leg, scheduled to be held in China from 13 to 17 July. The best teams from the regional qualifying events will then come together for the Finals in Singapore.
For the young players, the week in Fergana was not only about results. At this age, team competitions are also about learning, discipline, handling pressure and understanding what it means to represent their country. Events like this give children early international exposure and help build the foundation for the next stage of their tennis journey.
The closing ceremony marked the end of a successful Central Asia qualifying event, celebrating the players, teams, officials and organisers who contributed to the tournament.
