GSPDP Asian 14&U Championships Bring the Continent’s Best to Thailand

The Grand Slam Player Development Programme (GSPDP) Asian 14&U Junior Championships 2026 will be held at the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand in Nonthaburi from 28 September to 2 October. The tournament will bring together 24 boys and 24 girls for five days of singles and doubles competition.

The championship is part of the Grand Slam Player Development Programme, which supports talented young players and gives them opportunities to compete at a higher level. The event is sanctioned by World Tennis and the Asian Tennis Federation and will be hosted by the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand.

Places in the championship have been awarded through a combination of results, rankings and wildcards. The winners and runners-up from the five Grade A tournaments receive the first 10 places in each draw, while another 11 boys and 11 girls are selected according to the ATF 14U rankings as of 24 August 2026. The remaining places are reserved for host-nation and World Tennis/ATF wildcards.

The selection pathway covered five regional Grade A tournaments across Asia. The West Asia tournament was held in Bahrain, while Nanchang in China hosted the East Asia event. The Central Asia tournament took place in Uzbekistan, followed by the South Asia event in Hyderabad, India, and the Southeast Asia tournament in Sepang, Malaysia.

The singles competition in Nonthaburi will be played as a 24-player Monrad draw, which will allow the players to continue competing for positions throughout the week. The doubles event will feature 12 teams in a knockout draw. Matches will be played on six outdoor hard courts using Dunlop Fort All Court balls.

The Grand Slam Player Development Programme will provide a travel grant of USD 350 to every participating player. Players from Thailand will also receive the grant if they live more than 200 kilometres from the venue. The support is intended to help players and their families with part of the cost of travelling to the championship.

Full-board hospitality, including accommodation and meals, will be provided to the players from dinner on 26 September until breakfast on 3 October. Practice, sign-in and the official draw will take place on 27 September before the competition begins the following morning.

The results in Thailand will also open the door to further international opportunities. The boys’ and girls’ singles champions will be offered places on the GSPDP International 14U Team to Florida in 2026.

The four semifinalists in both the boys’ and girls’ singles competitions will be eligible for selection for the 2026 Junior Orange Bowl in Miami, one of the world’s most prestigious junior tennis tournaments. This performance-based pathway gives eight players from the championship an opportunity to represent Asia in Miami.

One boy and one girl may also earn invitations to the Elite 14&U Asia-Pacific Trophy in Australia in 2027, subject to confirmation and eligibility. The selection will be based on the singles results, with only the champions and runners-up eligible for consideration.

Category A+ ATF 14U ranking points will be awarded during the tournament. The Asian Tennis Federation will also provide development grants to the leading players. The boys’ and girls’ singles champions will each receive USD 3,000, while the singles runners-up will each receive USD 1,500.

With strong competition, financial support and several international opportunities on offer, the GSPDP Asian 14&U Junior Championships will be an important week for Asia’s young players. For the 48 competitors arriving in Nonthaburi, it will be a chance to test themselves against the best players of their age and take another step forward in their development.
