The trophy ceremony showed the respect between the two finalists. Zverev also spoke generously about Cobolli. “From the bottom of my heart, I hope that you will hold one of these trophies very soon,” he said, praising the Italian and his team.
Then came Zverev’s own emotional words for the people around him. He spoke about the injuries, heartbreaks and losses they had gone through together before saying, “We have been losers at some moments, but we are Grand Slam champions now.” It was a line that carried the weight of all the years he had spent chasing this title.
