GSPDP/ITF/ATF 16&U Team to India Completes First Tournament
The GSPDP/ITF/ATF 16&U Team has wrapped up the first leg of their India tour with the J300 New Delhi, held from January 6-11. The tournament, the first of three back-to-back events on the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors circuit, brought promising performance, especially in the girls’ doubles category, where the duo of Yesung Choo (KOR) and Yu-Chen Lin (TPE) emerged as runners-up.
Choo and Lin, who delivered an inspiring run in the girls’ doubles event. The unseeded pair showcased their skill and determination by defeating higher-ranked opponents to reach the finals.
The duo defeated the fourth-seeded pair of Petra Konjikusic (SRB) & Irem Kurt (TUR) in quarterfinals and overpowered the second-seeded French duo, Eleejah Inisan & Daphee Mpteshi in semi-finals.
Despite a valiant effort, they lost to the top-seeded pairing of Yoana Konstantinova (BUL) & Rada Zolatareva (RUS) with a scoreline of 3-6, 2-6, finishing as runners-up.
In boys’ Singles Kunanan Pantaratorn (THA) and Kuan-Huai Mao (TPE) exited in the second round of qualifying. Damir Zhalgasbay (KAZ) and Arnav Paparkar (IND) reached the quarterfinals, where Damir lost to Roshan Santhosh (IND), and Arnav fell to fourth-seeded Donghyun Hwang (KOR).
In boys’ doubles Kunanan, Kuan-Huai, and Arnav were eliminated in the second round, while Damir faced an early exit in the opening round.
In girls’ Singles Eva Korysheva (KAZ), Yu-Chen Lin (TPE), and Yesung Choo (KOR) faced tough opponents and lost in their opening match. In girls’ doubles Eva Korysheva faced an early first-round defeat.
The team is in India for a three-tournament tour on the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors circuit. Following the J300 New Delhi, the team will now move on to J200 Chandigarh (January 13-18).
With the J300 New Delhi completed, the team is now preparing for their next challenge at the J200 Chandigarh, scheduled for January 13-18. Building on their performance, the players are eager to deliver stronger results and gain valuable experience.
