GSPDP/ITF/ATF 16&U Team Concludes India Tour
The GSPDP/ITF/ATF 16&U Team recently completed a three-week long tour in India. The team competed in three back-to-back ITF World Tennis Tour junior tournaments. The swing began with the J300 New Delhi (January 6-11), followed by the J200 Chandigarh (January 13-18) and the J200 Kolkata (January 20-25).
The team featured a talented line-up of 8 players, including:
Boys: Kuan-Huai Mao (TPE), Damir Zhalgasbay (KAZ), Arnav Paparkar (IND) & Kunanan Pantaratorn (THA)
Girls: Yu Chen Lin (TPE), Yesung Choo (KOR) Yeri Hong (KOR) & Eva Korysheva (KAZ)
The team was accompanied by experienced coaches Zarina Jumajanova (KAZ) and Ankita Bhambri (IND).
In the first tournament J300 New Delhi, Yesung Choo and Yu-Chen Lin reached the finals in girls’ doubles, showcasing remarkable skill as an unseeded pair. They ultimately finished as runners-up, losing to the top-seeded duo. In boys’ singles, Damir Zhalgasbay and Arnav Paparkar advanced to the quarterfinals but faced tough competition.
In J200 Chandigarh, Choo and Lin continued their success, again reaching the finals in girls’ doubles. However, they lost to the third-seeded pair, securing their place as runners-up for the second consecutive week. In the boys’ events, Kunanan Pantaratorn reached the semi-finals in doubles.
In the final tournament of the tour J200 Kolkata, Damir Zhalgasbay made it to the semi-finals in the both boys singles and doubles, demonstrating consistent performance. The girls’ duo of Yesung Choo and Yeri Hong reached the semi-finals once more in doubles, marking their third straight week of strong finish.
