Asia/Oceania’s Finest: Teams Qualify for ITF WJTC Girls’ Finals. Kuching, Malaysia.

Taiwanese sisters Latisha Chan and Chan Hao-ching sailed through second-round of Australian Open 2020 defeating Chile’s Alexa Gaurachi and Kaitlyn Christian of USA 6-4, 6 -2 in the women’s doubles. The Chan sisters will play Monica Niculescu and Japan’s Misaki Doi in the third round.

The other Taiwanese player to enter third round of the competition in women’s doubles is Hseih Su-wei who along with her Czech partner Barbora Strycova defeated Lauren Davis and Viktorija Golubic 6-1, 7-5 in the second round.  The duo will face Darija Jurak (Croatia) and Nina Stojanovic (Serbia).

Meanwhile, Japan’s  Shuko Aoyama and her partner Ena Shibahara of USA also made it to the third round after a pull-out from their second round opponents A Rosolska and D Collins. The Japanese-American pair will play American favourites Caty Mcnally and Coco Gauff in the third round.

In the men’s doubles, Kazakh duo of Alexander Bublik and Mikhail Kukushin defeated Ji Sung Nam and Min-kyu Song of Korea 6-7(3), 6-4, 7-5 to claim third round spot. The duo will play Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey of USA in the third round.
