Sep 14th, 2006
Eighth seed Lee Hyung-taik recovered from 4-1 down in a final-set tiebreak to overhaul Michael Berrer 4-6, 7-6 (7/4), 7-6 (7/4) for a place in the quarter-finals of the China Open yesterday.
The win in just under two hours moved the Korean into his second Bejiing appearance in the final eight after losing to top Thai Paradorn Srichaphan here in the 2004 quarter-finals.
The 30-year-old Lee, ranked 63rd, will today face either Croatian first seed Ivan Ljubicic or American Kevin Kim.
Lee improved to 18-11 this season with only a pair of first-round defeats marring his record.
