Paradorn advanced to second round

Seventh seed Paradorn Srichaphan of Thailand defeated qualifier Ti Chen of Chinese Taipei 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round of the Thailand Open in Bangkok, Thailand.

Another asian who entered into the second round is Yeu-Tzuoo Wang of Chinese Taipei. He defeated Kevin Kim of USA in two straight sets 6-3 7-6(8).
