Chinese Tiantian Sun's campaign came to an end when she lost to Maria Kirilenko of Russia 6-1, 6-3 in the quarter final of the $585,000 China Open in Beijing, China.

In another quarterfinal, Shinobu Asagoe of Japan also went down to top seeded Maria Sharapova of Russia 6-4, 6-1.
