Li and Sun entered into second round

Fourth seeded Ting Li and Tiantian Sun of China defeated Marta Domachowska of Poland and Maria Kirilenko of Russia 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(5) in the first round of the $585,000 China Open in Beijing, China.

In another first round match, wild card entrant Wang-Ting Liu and Shengnan Sun of China stunned Lisa Mcshea and Bryanne Stewart of Australia 6-7(5), 6-2, 7-6(4) to enter the second round.
