Li reaches 3rd round at US Open

Li Na kept the Chinese flag flying at the US Open today (Beijing time), qualifying for the third round. Her 6-0 1-6 6-4 win over Greece's Eleni Daniilidou made her the only one of China's super-six contingent to make it past the second round at Flushing Meadows. It was not the best result from a group of players all ranked in the top 100, but national top-ranker and 24th seed Li at least gave another top performance.
The 24-year-old former badminton player from Wuhan made history at Wimbledon this year when she became the first Chinese player, man or woman, to reach the singles quarter-finals of a grand slam tournament. L
