India, Chinese Taipei crashes out, US wins the Hopman Cup.

Sania Mirza lost to Lucie Safarova, who she had beaten in the same competition last year. Sania, who needed on-court treatment for a back problem, lost in three tough sets. She went down 2-6, 6-4, 6-3. Safarova got off to a flying start against Mirza, winning the opening set 6-3. The battle between the world`s No. 23 and 31 then heated up when Mirza levelled the match by taking the second set 6-4. Safarova proved too strong in the third to record her first singles win of the week, clinching the deciding set 6-3.

Then Tomas Berdych beat Bopanna 6-4, 6-0 to ensure an unassailable 2-0 lead.

India finished second in Group B and the Czech Republic fourth.

Chinese Taipei finished third in Group B lossing to France which finished second in the group


In the finals played between between USA & Serbia, Serena Williams and Mardy Fish powered the United States to its fifth Hyundai Hopman Cup victory.
