Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifying in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia

ITF Junior Team Competitions were held at Kuching, Sarawak , Malaysia . Asia / Oceania Pre-Qualifying event for the Junior Davis Cup & Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas, as well as the World Junior Tennis boys' from 26 February to 1 March 2008.

In the 16 & under age category, 5 boys' teams and 4 girls' teams competed for 3 and 2 places respectively in the Asia/Oceania final qualifying in India and Thailand . In the first ever pre-qualifying event in Asia/Oceania for the boys' event of World Junior Tennis Competition, 7 teams will contest for the 3 available spots at the 14 & under final qualifying event in Shenzen , China in April.

In the Junior Fed Cup by BNP Paribas pre-qualifying (24 – 26 February2008) teams from KAZ, MAS, PAK & SRI competed. Malaysia and Kazakhstan confirmed their seeding positions and qualified as first and second of the round robin group to go to the Final Qualifying event in Bangkok , Thailand on 5-10 May 2008 .

In the Junior Davis Cup , host nation Malaysia continued their successful campaign by dominating all round robin matches to win the Pre-Qualifying Event. Malaysia as well as 2 placed Kazakhstan and 3 placed Pakistan promoted to the Final Qualifying event in New Delhi , India on 28 April - 3 May 2008 . Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were placed at the 4 th and 5 th positions respectively.
