Sania-Bhupati storm into Semis

Melbourne : India's ace tennis pair of Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupati stormed into the semi-finals of Australian Open mixed doubleS. Earlier in the day, they defeated the second seeded pair of Lisa Raymond and Simon Aspelin in a grueling match that ended in the third set as the pair notched up match figures of 6-3, 2-6, 10-7.

The second seeded Swede-American pair gave the Indian duo a tough match that tested their skills to the fullest. The final set was the most thrilling one that swayed either ways. It was the Indian pair that held nerve to the last match point and emerged victorious.

They were cheered on by a large crowd of Asian supporters and looked relieved in the post match conference. The walkover has given the pair a direct entry into the semi-finals and with this, the hopes of a billion fans still stay alive in the Australian Open.
