Twenty-first seeded Ai Sugiyama of Japan has stormed into the quarterfinal of the womens singles at NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami, Florida, USA. She upset thirty-second seeded Sofia Arviddson of Sweden 67(4) 63 62 in the fourth round. Her quarterfinal match will be against twelth seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia.
Also Zheng Jie of China defeated Jill Craybas of Germany 26 62 63 in the fourth round to reach the quarterfinals. She will now take on twenty-second seeded Tatiana Golovin of France in the quarterfinal.
