Twenty-first seeded Ai Sugiyama of Japan has reached the fourth round of the womens singles at NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami, Florida, USA. She defeated fifteenth seeded Elena Likhovtseva of Russia 36 75 60 in the third round. Her next match will be against thirty-second seeded Sofia Arviddson of Sweden.
In another third round match Zheng Jie of China upset sixteenth seeded Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany. Zheng won the match in two straight sets 64 75. She will now take on Jill Craybas of USA in her fourth round match.
