The seventh seeded team of Paes and Czech Martin Damm lost in the men's doubles semifinal to Fabrice Santoro FRA (6)/ Nenad Zimonjic SCG (6) in the straight sets 2-6 1-6 5-7. In the quarterfinal they defeated Australian Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyet of Zimbabwe in a thrilling five setter 7-6 (10/8) 6-7 (5/7) 6-7 (5/7) 7-6 (9-7) 6-2
