Ashutosh advances to the second round

Ashutosh Singh of India defeated compatriot Divij Sharan 6-4, 6-4 in the first round of the BSNL $10,000 ITF Futures tennis tournament in Delhi, India and advanced to the second round. Ashutosh will be up against the eighth-seeded Jae-Sung An of Korea in the pre-quarterfinals.
Other asians who also advanced to the second round are Vijay Kannan and Vivek Shokeen of India, Aisam Qureshi of Pakistan and Norikazu Sugiyama of Japan.
