Li Na enters into second round of Pilot Pen Tennis

China's top tennis player, Li Na became the first player to enter the second round after sweeping aside Maria Kirilenko, 61 62. Li's first service point average of 83% in the first set and second service point average of 67% in the second set won her eight break points; she clutched five of them and wound up the match 6-1, 6-2.

The Chinese No.1 was especially motivated to make a good start here. Last week, she was upset by a wild card in the first round of the Rogers Cup presented by National Bank. The early loss was a bit shocking for the 24-year-old, who has broken many records in recent weeks. Just last month, she made the quarterfinals at Stockholm and became the first Chinese player in Sony Ericsson WTA Tour history to crack the Top 20. In June, she became the first Chinese to reach a quarterfinal of a Grand Slam (Wimbledon). Her next opponent here is either Montreal semifinalist Dinara Safina or No.8 seed Anastasia Myskina.
